Sutton drops out of Probate Judge race

(Rock Hill, SC) Carolyn Rodgers is now the only candidate running for York County Probate Judge.  Rodgers lone opponent, Kevin Sutton, dropped out of the Republican primary set for June 8.  Sutton and Rodgers had been in a recent war of words during the brief election race.

Just this week Rodgers gained the support of Rock Hill NAACP Chair Melvin Poole who was encouraging Democrats to vote in the Republican primary because he felt the probate race was the biggest one this June.

Rodgers and Sutton met during a meeting Wednesday at former solicitor Tommy Pope’s law office and after the meeting, a joint statement was released with Sutton backing Rodgers for the position. Sutton also called her a perfect fit for the Probate Judge position. There are no Democrats in the race and the June 8 primary would have chosen the next individual for the seat.
