Grills will be fired up, flags will be waving and fireworks will be booming across the country this weekend in honor of America’s 234th birthday, but you can also catch some of your favorite country music artists in concert to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend.

** Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July picnic has become a staple of the holiday and this year, it will be held in Bee Cave, Texas, just outside of Austin. Along with Willie, Jamey Johnson, Jack Ingram, David Allan Coe and Kris Kristofferson are scheduled to perform along with many others.

** Carrie Underwood will close down Summerfest – the 11-day, 11-stage music festival held annually in Milwaukee – with a performance on the main stage. She will be joined by special guest Sons of Sylvia. Danny Gokey will also be in concert at Summerfest that night.

** Trace Adkins will headline Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing! concert along with Julianne Hough with a free show on the Riverfront stage. Julianne will also perform on Saturday and Chuck Wicks on Friday. All shows are free and open to the public.

** Laura Bell Bundy will play Lexington, KY’s Red, White and Boom with a lineup also featuring Josh Gracin, Mark Wills, Josh Thompson, Easton Corbin, Jerrod Niemann, GAC’s July Artist of the Month Trailer Choir and James Wesley.

** Zac Brown Band will open for the Dave Matthews Band both Saturday and Sunday at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin.

** Pat Green will headline Houston’s Freedom Over Texas with Little Big Town appearing as special guests.

** If you happen to be heading north of the border, Kellie Pickler and Blake Shelton are scheduled to play Dauphin’s Countryfest, Canada’s longest-running country music festival.

Don’t want to fight the crowds, but still want to catch a show? PBS and CBS have you covered.

** PBS will air “A Capitol Fourth,” live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol with performances from Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker at 8 p.m. ET.

** You can catch Toby Keith on CBS at 10 p.m. ET, performing at the annual “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra.

Another artist in action over the Fourth of July weekend though not playing on Independence Day is Kenny Chesney. Kenny has shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday night at The Joint at The Hard in the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
