USC’s five keys to victory

BEATING ARIZONA ST.

Coming off a 4-3 loss to Oklahoma, USC’s prospects looked bleak facing the No. 1 national seed in the losers’ bracket. Surprising the college baseball world, they bounced back with 11 runs on 14 hits, as junior right-hander Sam Dyson held the Sun Devils in check by grinding out 7 1/3 innings.

BIG MAN IN THE BULLPEN

Redshirt freshman right-hander Matt Price gave four different teams a taste of why he emerged as one of the nation’s top closers this season. He threw three hitless innings to keep the Gamecocks close in the 3-2 comeback victory against Oklahoma. And he picked up victories against Clemson to reach the title series and against UCLA in the championship game. He struck out 15 while allowing one run in 9 2/3 innings.
