When the Zac Brown Band serves up its next album, You Get What You Give, Sept. 21, it will feature several bonus appearances.

Jimmy Buffett and ace bluegrass guitarist Tony Rice both show up, as does Alan Jackson, who sings on “As She’s Walking Away,” which was released as a single earlier this week.

Alan contributed, in part, because he and the band have a similar connection: Keith Stegall produces both acts, and that made it a little easier to line everything up. It makes for a unique collaboration — Alan is decidedly traditional country, while the Zac Brown Band has one foot in country and the other in a sort of jam-band philosophy.

“When it was written, one of the first things we thought was, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to have Alan Jackson come in and be a part of this tune?’” bass player John Driskell Hopkins told Billboard. “It’s kind of an extended family hookup, and certainly a very welcome one. He’s got over 50 million records [sold] himself. We just knew if we could get him involved, it would get a great, different kind of fan base for us.”

The band has left some pretty impressive footprints already. On the strength of its last album, The Foundation, Zac and crew picked up the Grammy this year for Best New Artist. And it opened for the Dave Matthews Band this summer at Citi Field, the home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.

If you haven’t entered GAC’s Summer BBQ Sweepstakes yet, you only have a few days left to do so.  Registration ends on August 16, 2010.  The winner will get to fly off to Colorado with 3 friends to meet Zac Brown Band and see them in concert.
