Jamey Johnson [2] is headed to the home of the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, though he won’t be singing the national anthem or “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the final weekend of baseball’s regular season.

Instead, he’s been announced at the last minute as an addition to the lineup for Willie Nelson [3]’s Farm Aid 25: Growing Home For America at Miller Park. Board members John Mellencamp [4], Dave Matthews [5] and Neil Young were already set for the concert, of course. And so were Norah Jones [6], Jeff Tweedy, Jason Mraz and the Randy Rogers Band [7], among others.

And the event has an interesting connection to the top of the country album charts. Jamey’s new double-disc CD, The Guitar Song [8], came out Sept. 14 and went to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Kenny Chesney [9]’s new project, Hemingway’s Whiskey [10], came out on Tuesday, and it’s already being forecast as the top-selling album in any genre for the week. Since Kenny’s scheduled to be at Miller Park, too, it means artists with No. 1 country albums two of the last three weeks will both appear on the same stage the same day.

Willie started Farm Aid in 1985 to call attention to the economic squeeze that’s been put on family farmers. That first year in Illinois, he rolled out an impressive guest list that ranged from country stars Merle Haggard [11] and Alabama [12] to rockers Tom Petty and Bob Dylan [13]. Farm Aid has since gone on to include the likes of Dwight Yoakam [14], Emmylou Harris [15], the Beach Boys, Johnny Cash [16], Elton John, Don Henley [17], Garth Brooks [18], Ringo Starr and Toby Keith [19].

If you’re not in Milwaukee, you can still see Saturday’s edition on DirecTV’s The 101 Network starting at 6 p.m. ET or hear the broadcast on Willie’s Sirius XM music channel, Willie’s Place, beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Find out more about the concert — and the organization — at www.farmaid.org.

Meanwhile, Farm Aid folks are not the only famous people that Jamey’s been hanging out with these days. He enlisted Matthew McConaughey to direct and appear in his latest video, “Playing The Part.” Click HERE [20] to see a photo from the video shoot!
