Whoever said, “Nice girls finish last” never met Katie Armiger…and this nice girl is just getting started.
Katie’s third record, Confessions of a Nice Girl, will be available in stores and online Tuesday, October 5 – but she celebrated a little early, on September 29 at the SESAC building in Nashville. Located in the heart of Music Row, having this special event at SESAC was not out of convenience. Katie announced that she is now a member.
“I just want you to know that you always have a home here,” said Tim Fink, SESAC Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations.
Dressed from head to sparkly toe in an outfit from Buckle and jewelry from Silpada, two of her sponsors, she took to the stage looking like the star she is. But even in 4-inch heels, her feet are planted firmly on the ground. Katie’s sincerity came across as she performed select songs from the new album with producer Chad Carlson and fellow songwriters Rebecca Lynn Howard, Joe West, Amanda Flynn and Bruce Wallace.
The set list mixed upbeat and energized songs like “Nice Girl,” “Can You Handle It,” and “Best Song Ever,” with more serious and vulnerable tracks, including “That’s Why,” “Can’t Keep Myself From Loving You,” and “Cry, Cry, Cry,” which Katie wrote by herself.
A few months ago, Katie teamed up with GAC to have her fans name her album. Appropriately titled Confessions of a Nice Girl, the CD captures her genuine sweetness, while giving fans a peek of her sassy side. “You can be mischievous and still be a nice girl,” she teased onstage.
Katie’s special night was broadcast live on GACTV.com and Live Stream. Thousands of fans from all over the world tuned in and even asked questions, which Katie answered onstage. When one fan asked Katie if she would actually go to the store and buy her own album, without hesitation she answered, “You better believe it! I’ll be that person that buys every copy in the store.”
Katie is always smiling, but she was particularly animated this night.
“It felt so amazing,” she said. “I’ve been looking forward to this party ever since we set the date, just anticipating it. I’m so excited to share the new music with friends and fans tonight. I had so much fun up there singing with the co-writers and other artists. I’m just so happy and honored that they came out and sang with me.”
You will be seeing this nice girl everywhere. She graces the cover of the November issue of Justine Magazine, on newsstands now, and is set to perform on the CBS Morning show Friday, October 9. She is also Channel One’s Hear It Now artist the week of the release and is only the third country artist ever to be featured. Channel One is broadcast to over 7 million high school students every day.
