The Band Perry [2] owns a pretty unique position. The trio is nominated for the Country Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year award, and it hasn’t even released its debut album [3] yet.

Of course, they won’t be able to say that anymore by this time next week. The CD comes out Tuesday, four weeks before the CMAs are handed out, and it’s likely to get a lot of attention. Not only has the band gotten the industry’s stamp of approval with the nomination, its ballad “If I Die Young” [4] has already been certified gold for selling more than a half-million digital downloads.  Watch the video » [2]

“It’s been really cool to see how different fans of the song make it meet them wherever they are,” Kimberly Perry told Billboard, “whether they just lost a loved one or are in the mood to think about priorities.”

The Band Perry is thinking about priorities now that it was only dreaming about a year ago. There’s a ton of promotion for the new album and a heavy touring schedule — including an upcoming run as an opening act for Alan Jackson [5] in November. And the sibling trio is also having to think about what to wear to the CMA Awards, where it competes with Lady Antebellum [6], Little Big Town [7], the Zac Brown Band [8] and Rascal Flatts [9]. It’s not a spot the Perrys expected to land so quickly.

“We were at Sbarro Pizza at the airport in Charlotte, N.C., at 9 a.m.,” Kimberly said, recalling exactly where TBP was when it got word of the nomination. “A girl from our label called, and we said, ‘Are you sure?’”

Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry are working hard to make sure they earn that spot — and make sure they meet as many fans as possible. They’re set to do concerts and in-store signings in 11 different cities in the next 12 days, including Minneapolis, Houston, Buffalo, Boston and New York City.
