Kenny Chesney put a new wrinkle on his career this year when he made his first documentary and had a No. 1 hit with the title song. Now you can peek behind the scenes with the GAC special The Making Of ‘Boys Of Fall’, which debuts Sunday, October 31 on GAC at 8/7c. Check the full schedule for additional airtimes »
The film gave Kenny a chance to conduct personal interviews with a number of figures from the NFL and college football. He talked to quarterbacks Joe Namath, Troy Aikman and Brett Favre; to NFL coaches Jon Gruden, Tony Dungy, John Madden and Sean Payton; and to NCAA head coaches Mack Brown, Bobby Bowden, Bill Curry, Jim Tressel and Nick Saban.
In the process, he knitted together two all-American pursuits.
“Music and football are probably the two most universal things in this country,” Kenny says. “I think there’s a commonality between people that play sports and a guy that does what I do.”
Kenny took off from touring this past summer so that he could work on the Boys Of Fall documentary as well as his new album, Hemingway’s Whiskey. His ultimate goal was to give fans something that entertains them but also gives them something to think about.
“I think it’s really important that when people see this documentary, they’re able to relate to it or take something personal from it,” he says. “There are so many lessons that are parallel with football and life. The best time in life is when I was on the football field with all of my friends and I don’t think that will ever change.”
