Miranda Lambert Bakes Up a Party

When the Country Music Association handed out its awards three weeks ago, it was definitely Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s night.

The couple picked up a total of five awards — Miranda got three, Blake nabbed two — and then Nashville’s music industry went off to hold a round of parties downtown and on Music Row.

Blake certainly made his way to one of those parties: He was photographed with Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson at a Warner Bros. soiree. How did he and his fiancee celebrate when they got away from the music industry?

“When the red carpet and awards show were over, we went home and we’re normal,” Miranda told Billboard. “I made cookies, and Blake burned a brush pile.”

Despite that method of celebration, Blake and Miranda are really not a normal couple. They each have careers that require them to travel a lot — separately — and the distance puts a strain on their communication sometimes. You won’t hear Miranda complain.

“The good outweighs the bad,” she said. “The bad is being apart, and also we have way different music tastes, Blake and I. We don’t listen to the same kind of music, and we don’t record the same kind of music. But that’s also kind of good in a way, because we each do our own thing and neither one of us tries to change the other.”

Look for Miranda Wednesday at the “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!” She’ll perform “Only Prettier” on the telecast, in which some of the biggest nominees for next year’s Grammys will be unveiled. “The House That Built Me” is likely to pick up several nods for Miranda and/or songwriters Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin. The nominations special airs at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
