Charlie Daniels, Josh Turner: From Cowboy to Combat Boots

Country stars are trading in their cowboy boots for army boots to show their support for our nation’s troops. George Jones, the Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels, Randy Houser, Chuck Wicks and more are taking part in the Boot Campaign, which encourages Americans to buy and wear a pair of army combat boots in support of our troops.  Inspired by retired US Navy SEAL and author of the book Lone Survivor, Marcus Luttrell, proceeds from the boot sales are donated to partner charities.

“I’ve never seen anything quite as unique as the Boot Campaign, and I’ve seen a lot!” said Charlie Daniels, who chose the Boot Campaign to be a part of his annual charity event at the Nashville Palm.

To help spread awareness, celebrities from all music, film, and sports are being photographed in their boots with the campaign’s logo, “When they come back… we give back.” You can view those photos as well as get more information on the campaign at Even little Drake Dixon, the star of Randy Houser’s “Boots On” video, strapped on a pair of combat boots!

Other artist on board with the Boot Campaign are Jan Howard, Mel Tillis, Lee Greenwood, Josh Turner, Phil Vassar, Joe Nichols, Gretchen Wilson, Little Texas, Joe Diffie, Jamie O’Neal, Heidi Newfield, Justin Moore, Colt Ford, Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young Band, Derek Sholl, Joey + Rory and Jack Ingram. The Grascals and The Roys, along with Texas sensations Cross Canadian Ragweed, Robert Earl Keen, and Reckless Kelly have joined in as well, among others.
