And With a Broken Wing, Justin Moore Still Sings

Like many folks, Justin Moore hates flying. If you follow him on Twitter , you’re probably already aware of his distaste for aviation — so just imagine his exasperation when he recently boarded a plane that was delayed because of a broken wing!
“I don’t know how they let you get to that point before they decide the wing’s broken,” said Justin, “but we got all the way out there and then they get on and say, ‘The wing just did something we didn’t tell it to do. We’re gonna go check it out, should be about 5 or 10 minutes and we’ll be right back out here.’
“So I go back to the back to talk to the flight attendant and go, ‘Dude, I’ve got somewhere I have to be. Is this gonna take a while?’ And he says, ‘I don’t know.’ I say, ‘Well, I’m outta here, I don’t want to be on a plane where the wing is doing something you didn’t tell it to do.’”
Justin rented a car and took to the roads to get him to his show in Winston-Salem, NC. He said he envisioned the plane crew ”out there with duct tape trying to hold on the wing.”
Somewhat ironically, Justin’s latest single is called ”If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” — but it has nothing to do with his hatred of flying. The song, already a Top 40 hit, shows the softer side of this country rocker. Justin saw his own life reflected in the ballad from the first time he heard it.
“‘If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away’ is one of those songs you hear one time, and know immediately that it’s special,” he said. “Everybody, unfortunately, can relate to the lyrics in this song. It’s a part of life. You have to go through losing loved ones. Personally, I went through it a year ago losing my grandpa and aunt in the same week. The great thing about this song is that it will make you laugh and cry, and evoke every other emotion you can think of. To me, that’s what country music is all about. That’s why I make it, love it, and live it.”
