Rascal Flatts relied on instinct when deciding on whether or not to release their current single, “I Won’t Let Go.” The song, which is the group’s 25th Top 10 single, struck a chord with the group early on.
“We knew immediately that at some point it was going to be a single, we just didn’t know where it was going to fall,” Jay DeMarcus said. “We debated about putting a couple of different things out second, but in the end, why wait to put out your strongest material? And it seemed to be the cream of the crop, and we felt like people needed to hear it.”
Jay compares the recording of “I Won’t Let Go” to the recording of some of the group’s other big hits. “It certainly is one of those tunes that felt much like when we cut “Broken Road” and “What Hurts the Most” in the studio that this would impact lives, and really change people’s lives if they had a chance to hear it.”
