August is going to be a big month in the life of Jake Owen. Not only does he turn 30, he’ll also be releasing his third studio album. Produced by Joey Moi, Rodney Clawson and Tony Brown, the album will house 11 new tracks including the lead single, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” which sits at No. 17 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and No. 16 on Country Aircheck this week.
“It is kind of ironic that my new album is being released on August 30, two days after I turn 30 and this is my third record,” Jake said. “This album is a big step for me and my career and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
Fans will get the opportunity to hear some of Jake’s music this summer as he tours with Keith Urban on Keith’s Get Closer tour, which kicks off today in Biloxi, MS. “I have always wanted to go out on the road with Keith,” Jake said. “He really inspires me as a songwriter, musician and entertainer. Keith is the real deal and one of the most amazing talents our genre has ever seen.”
Jake had the opportunity to perform with Keith last Friday night at LP Field during the CMA Music Festival. Jake wasn’t on the schedule, but that didn’t stop Keith from extending an invitation for Jake to join him during his set. The moment blew Jake away.
“It meant the world to me that Keith called me up last week and invited me to join him on stage for a song during his set at LP Field,” Jake said. “Performing ‘Don’t Think I Can’t Love You’ with him was definitely a career highlight. To have Keith playing electric guitar and singing harmony with me on a song that I wrote was so awesome. Then, when the audience sang the words back to us at the top of their lungs, it was the coolest moment I have experienced in my career so far. It was surreal.”
