Chris Young was never one of those kids who struggled to find their career path. He knew from an early age that music was going to be his meal ticket, although he may not have realized just how big of a star he was going to become. With three No. 1 singles to date and “Tomorrow,” the first single from his new album, Neon, a top 5 hit and climbing, Chris has seen a lot of his career goals come true. He still has one, however, that is in the works.
“My goal is for someone to when I’m done with my music career, which will be when I die, that somebody went, ‘That song was my favorite song,’ ” he told the Tennessean.
On Neon, available in stores on July 12, Chris is giving fans 10 new tracks to pick from, seven of which he co-wrote with some of the biggest songwriters in Nashville. The three years between this album and his last, The Man I Want To Be, gave Chris time to sharpen his skills as a writer and create the songs he wants people to hear. “I think the (three years) between records gave me a great opportunity to hone my craft as a writer,” Chris told the paper. “I think it’s apparent in the songs on Neon.”
Chris will celebrate the release of Neon with a performance on Good Morning America tomorrow. He’s scheduled to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on July 27 as well.
