George Jones turns 80 today and country music’s most widely recognized radio station, Nashville’s 650 AM WSM, is throwing an all-day radio birthday party to celebrate. The station will play a George jones classic every hour from 12 midnight through 7PM as well as birthday greetings from listeners, listener requests throughout the day and a special edition of ‘The Eddie Stubbs Show’ from 7PM until midnight that will only feature music from George.

For listeners not by a radio, they can tune in through WSM’s new website, wsmonline.com. Fans can submit their own birthday wishes and request George tunes through the website, as well as enter to win limited edition prints celebrating George’s milestone birthday and tickets to the Grand Ole Opry.

“We’re excited to launch this brand new website by celebrating one of the most influential artists ever in the history of the music we play,” said Joe Limardi, 650 AM WSM Operation Manager. “George Jones is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, but he’s also made his mark on everything else listeners hear on the station from bluegrass, to Americana and gospel. It’s going to be quite a day for quite a legend.”
