Dierks Bentley’s new single, “Home,” has been selected by the Arizona Centennial Commission to serve as its official song for the state’s 100-year celebration. Dierks, an Arizona native, is planning to return to his home state in February to join the celebration as the Honorary Chairman of the Arizona Centennial Motorcycle Ride.
Dierks was a featured guest on NPR’s All Things Considered earlier this week. He discussed writing “Home,” the inspiration behind it and the challenges that came with taking on the song’s subject. “I wasn’t actively trying to write a song like this,” Dierks said. “They are kind of difficult songs to write, the patriotic songs.”
“Home” is the second single from Dierks’ upcoming album, due out in early 2012. He is currently touring the country on his Country & Cold Cans Tour. Over the weekend, Dierks was in Nashville for his 6th Annual Miles & Music for Kids charity motorcycle ride and concert.
