Martina McBride traveled 2,446 miles on her ELEVEN Across America powered by Amtrak Tour, wrapping the cross-country train voyage with a historic concert at the Empire State Building, where she became the first artist to ever perform from the landmark’s 80thfloor. Hundreds of VIP guests, industry executives, media and fans were in attendance at the concert, which was presented by Stanford Women’s Cancer Center.
Friday afternoon, Martina flipped a switch that turned the Empire State Building pink as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The building remained pink throughout the weekend. During the concert, Martina performed her song “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” about a woman’s diagnosis with breast cancer and her husband’s promise to support her.
Martina honored 11 breast cancer survivors in each of the 11 cities her tour stopped in as it wound its way from Los Angeles to New York City, and with PinkTogether.com, donated $11,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. After arriving in New York, Martina performed “I’m Gonna Love You Through it on the Late Show with David Letterman and Good Morning America.
Martina released her latest album, Eleven, on October 11. Read our review of Eleven >>
