Jake Owen Raises Money for St. Jude with Kitchen Concerts

Jake Owen has wrapped up his run on Keith Urban’s Get Closer World Tour, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped playing shows. Jake has been playing for fans from his kitchen – and raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the process -  through “If I can’t be on the road playing songs for people, I’ll do it from my kitchen through a live concert on,” Jake said.

Jake has played two shows so far, announcing them just minutes before they were scheduled to take place. Fans who are by their computer can pick up tickets, tune in to watch Jake’s live stream of his kitchen gig, and if they like what they see and are feeling generous, they can tip him.

“The concerts are very spur of the moment,” Jake said. “There aren’t any mics or cords, just a few guitars and my MAC that has an eyesight camera on it. I Tweet about it ahead of time to let everyone know we’re doing it. The other night we raised 3K for St. Jude in just 35 minutes. I would have been playing music with my friends in my kitchen anyway, so it’s a pretty cool way to give back.”

Jake’s giving back doesn’t stop there. He and his childhood friend and top-ranked American in professional tennis, Mardy Fish, will hold their sixth annual Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest in their hometown of Vero Beach, Florida on December 10. Eric Paslay and Chris Young will join Jake for a concert. Jake’s portion of the proceeds will go to St. Jude and The Mardy Fish Foundation, which provides children access to after school exercise, nutritional and enrichment programs.

Jake just released his latest video, “Alone With You,” And The Boot has exclusive behind the scenes footage from the steamy shoot. Watch it HERE and check out Jake’s new video below!
