Winthrop poll digs deeper into state isues, taxes

The Winthrop University poll released earlier this week questioned South Carolina voters about more than just the presidential race. 

Poll director Doctor Scott Huffmon says one of the questions had to do with state pension reform.  Huffmon says voters were asked if they were familiar with the issue.

Huffmon says voters were also asked what they knew about state taxes.  Specifically… he says they were asked what the highest marginal percentage rate is for personal income taxes in South Carolina.  The answer is seven-percent.

Huffmon says candidates need to explain the tax structure before many voters will understand their ideas for reform.  Huffmon appeared on Thursday’s edition of Palmetto Mornings.
