Jason Aldean was hard at work in Kissimmee, Florida yesterday, but he wasn’t playing one of his hit songs for thousands of fans. He was working out with the Atlanta Braves for an upcoming episode of GAC’s Day Jobs which sends country stars back to the jobs they held before their dreams of stardom became a reality. Jason’s episode will have a bit of a twist however.
“I was a delivery guy for Pepsi,” Jason said to the Associated Press. ”That was not cool. I was not going back and doing my old job. I worked too hard to not have to do that anymore. So they said, ‘What about we do kind of a dream job deal with you, where you get to do something with the Braves?’ I was like, ‘Now that I would be into.’”
Jason took part in spring training with the team, complete in a personalized No. 9 Braves jersey and cleats. He worked on his fielding, spent some time in the batting cage and ended his training session by running the bases, telling the team he was ‘good’ when they offered to let him do it all again after a lunch break.
“I’ve been a fan of this team for a long time,” he said. “I grew up watching ‘em. To get to come out and do this today is a big honor for me.”
While Braves Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez had to deliver the news to Jason that he didn’t make the team, he was still impressed with the country star’s skills. “He’s the best celebrity I’ve seen, by far,” he said. Not even close. You can tell he’s got a little background in baseball.”
