Team Blake’s Gwen Sebastian Shares Behind the Scenes Insights from The Voice

Ed. note: You may have seen North Dakota native Gwen Sebastian during the blind auditions for The Voice, the talent show starring country superstar Blake Shelton. Gwen impressed the four coaches with her rendition of Sugarland‘s “Stay” — and she chose to be on Team Blake for the competition. We asked Gwen to keep us updated during her time on The Voice. Check back each week for posts from Gwen!

Q&A with Gwen What’s been your favorite “off camera” moment?

Gwen: There have been a few. One is hearing everyone rehearsing in the hallway of the hotel we all stayed at and two, is dinner at Blake’s house.  He invited all of us on his team to a barbecue where we could just hang out without the cameras on. The food was delicious!  Barbecue ribs and steak in LA? Yes! And banana pudding, mashed potatoes and THE best mac & cheese I’ve ever tasted. Have you learned anything about Blake that surprises you?

Gwen: Well, maybe his “man crush” on Adam Levine. Wait…that doesn’t surprise me. Blake is a ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of guy. He’s the same off camera as he is on, so nothing has surprised me….not yet. How do you feel when you’re watching the show?

Gwen: It’s crazy how every time I watch, I feel like I’m re-living everything, from flying out to LA for my first audition, to the chairs turning around. I get very emotional and find myself pacing the floor back and forth hoping everyone does their best. I kind of feel like everyone’s mom! What was the most emotional moment from Monday night’s show?

Gwen: I actually cried watching Jamar and Jamie go head to head. Off camera, they became very good friends and each of them said they were heartbroken to be paired up against each other. I think that came through on the performance. Also, knowing what Jamar has gone through and battled against in his life, is very inspiring. How do you think Team Blake is stacking up to the competition?

Gwen: I may be a bit biased, but I think it’s the most versatile and most capable of producing the winner of the show.  We’ve got rock and roll, soul, pop, indie vibes and of course my favorite….country! Go Team Blake!
