Time to start prepping for spring storms

Pollen isn’t the only thing residents should be preparing for this spring. Director of York County’s Emergency Management, Cotton Howell, says the spring weather is perfect weather for severe thunderstorms, hurricanes and tornadoes.

There are over 70 emergency sirens located throughout York County that alert residents when danger is approaching, but Howell says residents should not rely on those sirens alone.

There are other ways to get weather updates for your area with new phone apps and text message alerts, but Howell recommends weather radios for every home.

The best way to receive that information and see if it pertains to you is to purchase a weather radio. Howell says weather radios are the most reliable and fastest device to get specific information about storms in your area.
