Velodrome opening set for Saturday

This weekend, Rock Hill’s brand new velodrome will open off the north end of Cherry Road, the newest edition to the Riverwalk development that sits along the Catawba River.

Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols said today that excitement is growing about the future of Rock Hill expanding into amateur sports tourism.

Giordano Andretta — who’s now in her early 30s and the daughter of the owners of Giordano cycling, said today she’s proud of the support her company has received as a new player in the local cycling community.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility is set for March 17 at  11 a.m.
