Charlotte City leaders are planning a hike in CATS bus fees — and if you ride the 82X line to Charlotte, it could soon affect you.
Thursday night, Rock Hill and Charlotte city transportation leaders held a public comment session on the fee hike, that if approved, would raise a one-way ticket by 50 cents to 4-dollars.
Charlotte Area Transit Systems Manager of Service Development Pamela White says she’s received comments on both sides of the issue.

White says even with the increase, an expansion of service is not currently planned.

During the meeting, White said the 50-cent increase was substantial — but necessary.
The 82X line currently runs during morning and afternoon rush hours five days a week from Downtown Rock Hill to Manchester Village, Baxter Village, the Plaza Fiesta in Fort Mill and finally on to the Charlotte transportation center. The line currently averages around 34-hundred riders each month.
CATS is set to make a final vote on the proposal later this month. If approved, it would go into effect July 1.
