It’s a program called “Heroes Helping Heroes” — and this week, area law enforcement have been weathering the sun, wind and rain on top of two area fast food restaurants raising money for next weekend’s South Carolina Special Olympics.
Several have taken vacation time to stand on top of the Dave Lyle Blvd. and Cherry Road Chic-Fil-A restaurants standing side by side with people with disabilities — raising thousands.
By Day, Phil Tripp investigates crimes against property, but for the past few days, he’s taken vacation time to help achieve this year’s goal of 10-thousand dollars.

Tripp says in 2010, York County authorities together raised 6-thousand dollars — and he’d like to double that this year.

Tripp and officers from area agencies are standing on the roofs of the Cherry Road and Dave Lyle Blvd. Chic-Fil-A’s, and are also set go take time out for the upcoming Law Enforcement Torch Run on May 5th.

In 2010, York County agencies raised more than 6-thousand dollars for the Special Olympics. The fundraiser continues Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
