Under the orders of his doctor, George Jones has postponed concert dates through May 20 while he continues to recuperate from an upper respiratory at his home in Franklin, Tennessee, reports MusicRow. He was originally hospitalized with the infection in March. A statement issued from his publicist says George has greatly improved, but his doctors have prescribed extended mandatory recovery time.

George posted a video updating fans on his condition and thanking them for their prayers. He also used the video to speak out about a family feud brewing between him and daughter Georgette. He accused Georgette, his daughter with Tammy Wynette, of spreading rumors about him on the internet, reports The Tennessean.

“I would like to apologize for my daughter Georgette and her new husband for putting so much bad things about me on the Internet and Facebook,” George said in his video. “None of these things are true. They are all about money. I have gave and gave until I can no longer give. I will never let her go hungry, but I am tired of putting out, and I am not the person they claim I am.”

“All I’ve ever wanted is to have a relationship with my dad and for him to know how much I love him and for him to love me and want to be a part of my life,” Georgette told The Associated Press. “I had hoped that we could resolve this between the two of us privately and at some point he would talk to me. Unfortunately, things have escalated even further.”

A rift between father and daughter grew when Georgette befriended her two brothers from George’s second marriage. According to Georgette, her father had a falling out with his sons about 20 years ago and doesn’t speak with them. Her relationship reached a breaking point last year when she was planning her wedding. Her brothers agreed not to come as long as it meant her father would be there to give her away. George booked a show on the wedding day, however, and Georgette’s twin sons walked her down the aisle.

“He’s been told that I have sold stories to tabloids, which obviously I have not done and I can prove that I haven’t done that,” Georgette said. “I’ve never wanted money or anything from my father.”

With George’s recent health scare, Georgette said she tried to reach out to her father, with no success. She said she was told by a family friend that George had pneumonia and asked fans online to send prayers his way. Georgette says she wasn’t trying to make her father out to be sicker than he was or to cause problems with future concert dates and ticket sales.
