Martina McBride Inspired by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Martina McBride has always made giving back a priority, especially as she’s been so blessed in her own life. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis is one of the charities near and dear to her heart. She was especially moved when she was able to visit and see the work the hospital does firsthand.

“It’s amazing,” she said. “We got to visit the labs where they do the research right there on site and talk to a couple of the scientists who are so excited with the research that they’re doing and the things that they’re finding and sharing with the world.”

One thing that really moved Martina was St. Jude’s commitment to making the hospital feel like home for the kids. “They were saying with the food, for example, sometimes it’s hard to get the kids to eat when they’re having treatment because they don’t have any appetite. So they’re like, ‘If they want a chocolate milkshake at three in the morning, we’re all about it. And even if grandma’s meatloaf is their favorite food, we call grandma and get the recipe and make it just like that.’”

Martina’s latest single, “Marry Me,” a duet with Train’s Pat Monahan, is at radio now. She recently kicked off a tour of theaters for intimate concerts that will bring her closer to her fans. The tour runs through August.
