Williamson named as new Winthrop trustee

Winthrop University announced today a new addition to the school’s board of trustees.

James Williamson of Cheraw, S.C. was selected to assume the seat of Francis Davenport whose term expires June 30. Williamson is the Chief Human Capita Officer at Columbia-based Agape Senior.

A release from Winthrop says that Williamson retired from higher education after 28 years, including time served as president of two state technical colleges and a Winthrop faculty member and administrator.

Williamson earned his bachelor’s in visual arts from Winthrop in 1980 and earned a Masters in Education in 1985. He earned a Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 1994.
