Candlelight Vigil in Clover honors fallen officers, families

This week wraps up National Peace Officers Week and Thursday night, the Clover Police Department held the third annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service and Candlelight Vigil.

Captain David Dover said that following the deaths of two Aiken Public Safety officers earlier this year, it’s especially important for the public — and the officers’ families — to know the dangers associated with the job

Captain David Dover said the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Candlelight Vigil in Clover was started locally by his boss, Chief Randy Grice, who had a special connection to a State Trooper.

Saturday wraps up the week-long Peace Officers Memorial Week, where a national candlelight vigil and memorial service took place in Washington.

The families of fallen York County Deputy Brent McCants, Rock Hill Police Officer Steven Jordan and State Trooper Kevin Cusack were all present for Thursday’s ceremony, which took special meaning this week following the deaths of Master Public Safety Officer Scotty Richardson and Master Corporal Sandy Richardson in Aiken earlier this year.
