The first of three days of record-setting temperatures are rolling across the Carolinas. Friday’s high hit 104, though some bank thermometers around York County were showing temps of nearly 114 degrees.

That’s Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris. Faris says that employees at York Electric Cooperative kicked in several hundred dollars to help with the effort.

Faris says that both the elderly and the young can be extremely vulnerable to the high temperatures.

Once again, those fans are distributed by deputies — as they see fit. Temperatures in York County hit triple digits at noon Friday — and combined with the humidity, are expected to rise Saturday and Sunday.
