The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man wanted in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a Lancaster restaurant Wednesday morning.
A news release from the sheriff’s office says 45-year-old David Leroy Deese of Lancaster is charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon while Committing a Violent Crime.
Deputies were dispatched to Rusty’s Grill on Pineview Drive about 5:35 a.m., when Deese walked into the restaurant wielding an axe and demanding money. The restaurant owner produced a handgun and challenged Deese.
The suspect then began apologizing, said he was on drugs and fled the scene.
Deese was later apprehended by Deputies several blocks away from the scene.
