York County Economic Development Director Mark Farris was among a handful of South Carolina business leaders and politicians who spent a week in England last month pitching the Palmetto State to the aerospace industry.

Farris joined Governor Nikki Haley, Senator Lindsey Graham and even former governor Mark Sanford in the week-long trip promoting South Carolina to a global audience.

South Carolina had its own booth at the air show.Haley said before she left for the trip that this opportunity was like the CEO of a state meeting the CEO of a perspective company.

Farris says the state helped get its own foot in the door with help from York County-based Winbro technologies.

The european trip wrapped up July 25, right in time for the start of the 2012 Olympic Games.
