Board Member hopes AG will exonerate Cultural & Heritage Foundation

A member of the Culture and Heritage Foundation in York County says he expects a letter soon from the state attorney general’s office and the secretary of state’s office clearing the foundation of any improper use of its funds.

Jim Johnston says there’s been a lot of controversy over property owned by the foundation that was intended to be the site of a new museum until the economy turned sour.

Johnston says 60 acres of the property on the Catawba River west of I-77 can still be used to build a new museum if the money can be raised.

He says some historic artifacts of the Catawba Indian Nation have been found there and are now in the hands of the University of North Carolina.

Johnston says the foundation has a great relationship with the Catawbas.
