FOX 4 News reported police in Plano, Texas said Randy Travis received a citation for simple assault after getting into a fight in the parking lot of one of North Texas’ largest churches, Prestonwood Baptist Church, late Thursday night.

Both men were given a citation but not arrested, a police spokesman said. The citation carries the same legal weight as a speeding ticket.

This morning, TMZ reported police said there was a family argument taking place between a husband and a wife and Randy got involved in the argument. The website also said a source told them Randy appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” and was taken to the hospital after the argument. Fox 4 News reports they could not confirm a hospitalization.

This is the third incident in 2012 involving Randy and the police. On February 6 he was arrested in Sanger, Texas on a charge of suspicion of public intoxication; and on August 8 he was charged with a DWI near Tioga, Texas.
