Thomas Rhett is enjoying a Top 15 debut single (“Something To Do With My Hands”) and the release of his self-titled EP, which landed at No. 1 on the iTunes chart. An accomplished songwriter, he not only wrote or co-wrote each song on his EP, he landed his first cut on Jason Aldean’s multi-platinum My Kinda Party album. Now, he’s got his eyes on future awards.

“I think it’d be the coolest thing ever to have a Song of the Year,” he said.

Song of the Year is given to the songwriter. “I mean if you think about Song of the Year, do you know how many songs are played in a year and how many songs come in and off the chart?” said Thomas. “That’s saying you have written the best song of two thousand and whatever and I just think that’d be the coolest accomplishment in the world.”

Thomas will release “Beer with Jesus” as his next single. It asks the hypothetical question, “What would you talk about if you could sit down and have a beer with Jesus?”
