Willie Nelson [2] will release Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die, a book about his life on the road as a music man, on November 13. In the book, Willie talks about his greatest influences and the things that are most important to him, while celebrating his family, friends and colleagues who have been with him on his musical journey.

Not a man to let his opinions go unspoken, Willie discusses his views on music, politics, his home state of Texas, religion, his wife and children, past relationships, his favorite recreational activity and more. Family, friends, and band mates also share intimate, never-before-heard stories about Willie.

Willie earned the nickname ‘Red Headed Stranger’ in part for his desire to keep his personal life private. But in this book, he’ll offer up stories about his personal life like spending time with his grandchildren and mischievous tales from his youth that he’s previously never shared. The book is full of never-before-seen personal photos of Willie and his family and friends, including artwork by his son Micah. Willie also opens up about the time he spent living in Hawaii and what it’s like to live in an entirely solar-powered community.

Willie also looks back on the earliest days of his career as a starry-eyed man with a dream and how he met some of the most famous singers and songwriters of all time, including Patsy Cline [3] and Hank Cochran. He also tells exactly what he thinks of the traditional Nashville sound and discusses how he became known as an outlaw on the country music scene.
