Inmate strikes Public Defender in York County courtroom

A Rock Hill man on his way out of a York County courtroom Tuesday struck a public defender in the mouth, busting open his lip.

30-year-old Lemarcus Williamson had just been sentenced to 15 years in prison when he struck 58-year-old Daniel Hall — an incident that was all caught on a courtroom security camera.

Judge William Nettles tacked on an additional six months during his contempt of court hearing Wednesday morning.

That sentence is the maximum allowed by law without an additional trial.

Williamson also has several pending strong arm robbery and drug charges, in addition to charges of first-degree assault and battery.

He remains in jail on $45,000 bond.
