Sweethearts of the Rodeo is back with their first album since 1996. The duo will release Restless on October 23. Produced by Dave Pomeroy, Janis Oliver and Kristine Arnold, the album captures the spirit of classic Sweethearts hits and offers new sounds as well.
“The timing was finally right for us to focus on the dream we have shared for years – to record and perform together as Sweethearts of the Rodeo once again,” Kristine Arnold. “Janis and I feel very proud of this project and hope that everyone who listens can hear the love and joy that went into completing it.”
“We love the process of writing and finding songs and on Restless, we once again did just that,” Janis Oliver said. “Nothing beats the experience of getting back together in the studio with some amazing musicians and doing this all over again. It’s been too long and we’re very happy to say that we’re back!”
Janis and Kristine have sang together since their childhood, forming Sweethearts of the Rodeo as teens. They landed a recording contract in Nashville in 1985 and debuted on the charts with a remake of The Everly Brothers’ “Hey Doll Baby” in 1986. Their hits included “Chains of Gold,” “Since I Found You,” and “Gotta Get Away.”
In recent years, the pair have focused on their families and other interests. Kristine dedicated her time to her family while Janis worked on training and showing horses. Together they ran a clothing boutique for several years. They have recommitted to their music career these days and will support Restless with a nationwide tour.
