Kristin Chenoweth will return as co-host of the American Country Awards alongside Trace Adkins on Monday, December 10. Airing live on FOX at 8p|7c, Kristin is looking forward to the chance to step back into the co-hosting role. So much so that she was steadfast in making sure she got the call to return.

“We’re really excited,” she told News Day. “We really get along, and he’s just a cool person,” she says of Trace. “For some reason, we have this crazy chemistry that people enjoy. I enjoy it myself, and I was bound and determined to not lose that date. That was my goal, to be there for that.”

It will be Kristin’s first major job since being injured on the set of ABC’s The Good Wife. During filming over the summer, she was struck by a falling light fixture and suffered serious injury to her face, skull, neck, spine and ribs. Doctors didn’t expect her to return to work so soon.

“I just can’t have idle hands,” Kristin said. “I was down for two months easily, then into the third month, I slowly started coming back out a little bit. It was a life-changing event for me, and I don’t want to milk it dry, but it’s something that will take me a while to recover from. I still have injuries that I’m dealing with, but overall, I’m so lucky to be back. I’m getting there.”

Kristin, who released her first country album, Some Lessons Learned, will perform a song from the project during the show. Rascal Flatts, Kip Moore, Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Little Big Town  are also scheduled to perform.

The ACAs will also feature appearances by Miranda Lambert, Natasha Bedingfield, Ron White, cowboy Trevor Brazile,  Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Casey James, LeAnn Rimes, Lee Brice, Jana Kramer, Dustin Lynch and Chris Young.
