The Band Perry’s new single, “Better Dig Two,” makes it clear that the sibling trio isn’t afraid to experiment with sounds or the way they deliver them, whether they write the songs or not. Their wide variety of musical influences is part of the reason they’re willing to step outside the box.

“I love soul singin,’” Kimberly Perry said. “So I love everybody from Aretha Franklin and Janice Joplin, all the way to the attitude of say, a Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, some of my very favorite singers.”

The band also has a unique songwriting approach. Kimberly has one person in particular from whome she gains writing inspiration. “I love Bob Dylan’s lyrics,” she said. “They’re so visual and just have a really cool craft. They’re just some of my favorites.”

“Better Dig Two” was written by Shane McAnally, Trevor Rosen and Brandy Clark. It is the lead single from their upcoming sophomore album.
