Beaty, last surviving member of WRHI’s founding families, dies

The last surviving member of one of WRHI’s founding families has died. Maryanne Wood Beaty died December 26 at Westminster Towers in Rock Hill. She was 96.

Beaty was married to Jim Beaty, one of the four men who founded WRHI in 1944. Beaty, along with his brother Bill, Ernest Carroll and Harper Gault founded the station that this year will celebrate is 69th year of service to York County.

Visitation is set for Friday at 10 a.m. at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, with a graveside service at Laurelwood Cemetery Friday at 11 a.m.
