Governor Nikki Haley signed an Executive Order Wednesday morning outlining the schedule for a special election for the First Congressional District seat.
Incumbent Tim Scott was tapped in December to fill the seat of outgoing Senator Jim DeMint.
Filing for Scott’s former seat opens January 18th at noon and closes ten days later. A primary is set for March 19 with a runoff, if necessary on April 2nd. A General Election is set for May 7.
Two forms are required to run for Federal office. One is the statement of intention of candidacy:

Both forms are given to SCGOP at the time of filing. The filing fee will be prorated from $3,480, as required by law (around $3,000).
