Westminster Towers announced today it is the first in South Carolina to be accredited as a Person Centered Long Term Care Community. The distinction is awarded by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC) a non-profit senior living accreditation commission in Washington, D.C.
This recognition compliments the existing national accreditation that was awarded in 1997 as a continuing care senior community, when Westminster Towers became the first in the state to be nationally accredited for its programming.
“The Person Centered Care approach is about valuing, honoring and respecting seniors, families and employees,” said Westminster Towers Campus Administrator, Mandy Stamper. “Those served set the rhythm of the day, while staff members focus on the unique needs of each resident.”
During CARF-CCAC three day on-site surveys, the provider must demonstrate that it conforms to a series of rigorous and internationally recognized standards. This designation celebrates that Westminster Towers is a place where “persons served want to live, where personnel want to work, and both choose to stay,” said Westminster Towers President/CEO, Tony Fountain.
