Fifth District Congressman Mick Mulvaney wrapped up his second town hall forum of February Thursday in Rock Hill.

Mulvaney spoke to a crowd of 50 at the Freedom Center on East Main Street, taking questions from residents on immigration, the pending sequester and gun control.

Thursday’s forum was held by the Rock Hill Chapter of the NAACP.

Chapter president Melvin Poole said while many in the room did not likely vote for Mulvaney, he welcomed Mulvaney’s willingness to meet with a wide range of constituents.

Several questions from the audience centered on the looming automatic spending cuts set to take place in the hours to come. Mulvaney told the crowd he was disappointed that in particular, the defense sector wasn’t prepared for the pending cuts.

Others expressed their distaste on the lack of cooperation between Republicans and Democrats.

Mulvaney said his party needs to decide its direction in order to stay relevant in the political landscape.
