After 13 years of making music and performing together, Rascal Flatts [2]has plenty of memories to look back on, including multiple No. 1 hits, sold out tours, and becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry [3]. There is one memory though, that stands out as the first moment they felt like they belonged in country music.

“It was when we played the Grand Ole Opry for the first time,” Jay DeMarcus said. “Kids were lining the aisles and standing down front at the Grand Ole Opry, which I’d never seen before. And I think it was around the time that ‘I’m Moving On’ had come out and we saw our sales and our popularity and our visibility go from next to nothing to huge all of a sudden.”

Jay recalls a feeling in the air that they hadn’t experienced before. “I think that was the time for me that I stopped and went, ‘Wow. We’re kinda doing something special here. Not just a couple of top ten singles. We’ve got one that’s impacted people now.’”

They band will kick off their Live & Loud Tour in May.
