The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will spotlight Janie Fricke in their latest exhibit, Radio Romance: Mainstream Country in the 1980s. The exhibit will run through April 2015 and highlights a collection of artists that heavily incorporated pop influences into country music. Other artists featured in the exhibit include Barbara Mandrell , Eddie Rabbitt and Steve Wariner.
Some of the artifacts in the exhibit include Janie’s stage costume worn when she performed at Camp David for President Reagan in 1981, her 1982 Female Vocalist of the Year CMA Award and 1983 Top Country Female Vocalist ACM Award, and her datebook, which includes details from all of her studio sessions when she worked as a background vocalist.
Spotlight exhibits are narratives that supplement the museum’s core exhibition, Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music. They highlight a person, group or aspect of country music, recently donated items or special anniversaries. Other current spotlight exhibits focus on Garth Brooks , Jack Greene, Minnie Pearl, Hargus “Pig” Robbins, Connie Smith and Dottie West.
