The CMA Songwriter Series will return to Joe’s Pub in New York City for a special two-night event May 7-8 to celebrate nine years. The event will feature singer-songwriters Phil Vassar [2], Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally and host Bob DiPiero.

“Nashville’s songwriters are the best in the world and CMA is excited to showcase them again in New York City at the famed Joe’s Pub,” Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer, said. “It’s great to see how this series has grown since it began in 2005. What started at Joe’s Pub in New York has expanded to other cities over the years. We have even taken the series overseas with shows in the U.K., Ireland, and Paris.”

Phil Vassar will headline a night of country favorites showcasing his hits such as “Carlene,” “Last Day of My Life,” and “American Child.” He’s also written hit songs for other artists including “My Next Thirty Years” recorded by Tim McGraw [3], “Right On The Money” recorded by Alan Jackson [4] and Jo Dee Messina’s [5] “Bye, Bye” and “I’m Alright.”

“Songs should evoke something, whether it makes you happy and puts you in a good mood, or makes you cry and feel desperation,” Phil said. “Whether you’re going through a marriage, or a divorce, or you’re in love, or you hate somebody, or whatever it is… songs should evoke something.”

Shane McAnally has written such hits as “Last Call” recorded by Lee Ann Womack [6] and “Come Over” recorded by Kenny Chesney [7]. He also recently produced Kacey Musgraves [8]’ debut album. Brandy Clark penned hits “Better Dig Two” by The Band Perry [9] and “Mama’s Broken Heart” by Miranda Lambert [10]. Bob DiPiero’s hits include “Blue Clear Sky” by George Strait [11] and “Lovin’ You Is Fun” by Easton Corbin [12].

Tickets for the May 7 and 8 CMA Songwriters Series at Joe’s Pub are $40 and $35 each and are on sale now. For information about Joe’s Pub or to order tickets, visit joespub.com [13] or call (212) 967-7555.
