Taylor Swift Keeps Her Reality in Perspective

Taylor Swift spends night in and night out in front of thousands of screaming fans. It’s a huge adrenaline rush that requires a little time to come down from after the show and get back to reality. But for Taylor, the definition of “reality” is all relative.

“It’s an interesting concept because my real world involves walking onstage and there are thousands of people out there, then walking offstage, and there’s my cat,” she said. “You just kind of adjust your mind to experiencing that level of sound, that level of lights and that level of excitement, and your heart racing. And then yeah, it takes a couple of hours to fall asleep that night ‘cause your adrenaline is still rushing.

Coming down from that high isn’t a big transition for Taylor, though. Even though the crowds are bigger than ever and they’re singing all of her songs word for word, she maintains her perception of herself hasn’t changed.

“I’m still the same person that I was in middle school when I didn’t get invited to stuff,” she said. “You just don’t want to go too ahead of yourself and think, ‘Huh. I really killed that. Man, those people – they’re so lucky to be here to see me.’ I was so lucky to be onstage in front of that many people. That’s the truth of it.”

Taylor is currently on her RED Tour.
