George Strait is getting closer to scoring his 60th No. 1 song with his current single, “Give It All We’ve Got Tonight.” He wasn’t sure he’d be able to fully capture the song, however, and had doubts about recording it.

“The first time I heard it I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s a great song,’” he said. “[It’s] a little different for me, a little risqué kinda. I’m thinking, ‘I don’t know if I can pull this off or not.’”

George talked it over with a member of his team, who reassured him he could pull the song off. He went ahead with recording the track and ended up falling in love with it. “The melody’s a little different, great lyrics,” he said. “It’s kinda about parking, which I’ve done a few times back in the early days.”

“Give It All We Got Tonight” is the first single from George’s upcoming album, Love is Everything, set for a May 14 release. Fans and country artists alike recently started the “Sixty For Sixty” movement, which encourages local radio stations to play the track and make it George’s 60th No. 1 before he turns 61 on May 18. Fans can tweet and Instagram their support with hashtag #60for60, as well as share posts on Facebook.
