When Lady Antebellum started putting together the material for their new album, Golden, the trio was in the middle of their Own The Night World Tour. They made writing and recording demos part of their daily schedule, creating an album of songs that represent where they are in their career and personal lives as well as where they’ve been.

“It’s like you can really see what we’ve been through throughout our career as a band,” Hillary Scott said. “Whenever you go back and listen to every record, from the very first one to when you hear this one, it’s a journey.”

“Our evolution on this record was actually stripping it back down to the basics of how we started, and the basics of the song, and not throw in too many overdubs,” Charles Kelley said. “We didn’t have any string sections on this record, which is a first for us. And so, it’s definitely all about the song and not trying to polish it up.”

Golden includes the band’s latest No. 1, “Downtown,” as well as their new single, “Goodbye Town.”
